Anyone who was alive and breathing in Argentina this past weekend felt the crush of the national teams loss to Germany on Saturday.
The streets were quieter than they have been in what seems like ages since the world cup started.
Posters advertising discounts for Copa Mundial have now been taken down and countless flags draped in restaurants, store windows, balconies and flying off car windows have all been put away for the time being.
After winning their first three matches and coming into eliminations topping their group, the country knew there would be a good chance of seeing Argentina in the finals. Then, along came Germany, and in a terribly metaphoric repeat of the games in 2006, Argentina was eliminated, in the quarter finals, by one of their long-time rivals.
However, the team returned last night to hordes of passionate fans. It sure takes a lot to crush the spirits of true futbol fans. Below are some fantastic photos taken from Plaza San Martin through the duration of the World Cup. And all I have to say is, watch out 2014, the Brazil games are ours!
