Believe it or not, Brasilians are absolutely crazy about Italian food. Some say that the level of quality in Italian restaurants in São Paulo rivals that foodie destinations such as New York City. Our woman about town, Melina Flynn shares her favorite spots in the city.

This cozy and charming restaurant has a varied menu that includes items as offbeat as beef stroganoff, but the food is fantastic.
Address: Rua Manoel Guedes, 243, Itaim Bibi

We’d prefer not to give so much love to one chef, but Carlos Bertolazzi’s (owner of aforementioned Zena) other spot, Spago is a winner as well. Be sure to try the beef parmesan and save room for one of their amazing desserts.
Address: R. Leopoldo Couto de Magalhães, 681, Itaim Bibi

On the higher end, Serafina is one of the top Italian joints in Jardins. Be sure to try, well, everything.
Address: Alameda Lorena, 1705B, Jardins

There’s something to be said for restaurants with a focused menu. Open only for lunch, Millesapori changes their two (yes two) menu items daily. No need to worry about reading the specials from a board across the room as the chef/waiter will gladly sing it to you.
Address: Rua Pedroso Alvarenga, 1.177 – Itaim Bibi

This no frills pizza joint is the undisputed champ of fried-pizza in São Paulo.
Address: Av. Juriti 704
