The Best Palermo Brunch Spots

Just in time for the holiday weekend, our Buenos Aires office’s marketing intern, Francis Kassatly, has rounded up his favorite brunch spots in the trendy Palermo neighbourhood of BA.

Having lived in Buenos Aires for 2 months, and woken up on many a Sunday morning needing direction and the company of friends in order to re-hash what happened the previous night, I have become quite the expert on the local brunch options. Read on for my picks of the Palermo restaurants with the best scene, the best benedicts and the best deals below.

The Food Factory, Nicaragua 6055, Palermo Hollywood, $$

This cool, all-day eatery offers a variety of great brunch options. Choose between their 2 course set menu that features a weekly special, or order a-la-carte from their extensive menu. What I recommend is their eggs benedict, one of the best in BA in my opinion, which arrives topped with edible flowers, and underneath hides shiitake mushrooms, pancetta and the most perfectly poached egg. Avoid the salmon tataki.

Fierro Hotel, Soler 5682, Palermo Hollywood, $$$

“The hotel for the gourmand”, as they call themselves, offers a multi-course brunch tasting menu that’s more accessible than you might think. Starting with a bloody mary, a mountain of the best medialunas, bottled water, fresh orange juice, coffee, the feast continues with small plate after small plate (up to eight) of delicate bites of pork and apple kabob, poached egg atop a pastry croute and a frozen grated Colombian fruit with lychee and yogurt. The small stomached may find it overwhelming. At last check, the menu was AR$120 per person.

La Maison, Honduras 5774, Palermo Hollywood, $

This Palermo restaurant manages to blend girly-cute decor with edgy cool atmosphere in the most perfect manner possible. A fantastic two course brunch is served every Saturday and Sunday. First is a platter of small cups filled with tasty suprises. On the occasion I visited, we were served scrambled eggs laced with truffle oil, white fish ceviche, Andalusian gazpacho and a fresh salad adorned with edible flowers, followed by a second course of pain perdu and coffee. All this is a snip at AR$70 per person.

Olsen, Gorriti 5870, Palermo Hollywood, $$

Perfect for a sunny day, this Scandinavian style semi-open air cafe doesn’t really specialise in brunch, but the cool vibe, killer cocktails, bloody mary’s and petite sandwich platters are ideal for a lazy Sunday. Free WiFi seals the deal.

Pani, Nicaragua 6044, Palermo Hollywood, $$

Not my number one recommendation for food, but the cool atmosphere makes it worth a shot. A patisserie with an elegant cafe attached, this is probably one of the most generous set-menu brunches in the city, with a price tag to match so consider sharing. What you’ll get seems similar to an afternoon tea in a way; a canopied stand stacked with dulce de leche based treats, salmon benedicts, and a thick tomato soup with a grilled cheese toast.

The Clubhouse, E-mail clubhouse@oasiscollections.com to RSVP

I know this seems like I’m plugging my workplace, but honestly, I couldn’t have done a brunch roundup without including the excellent new brunch at The Clubhouse. The two course menu on the day I ate there included choices like a grilled chicken sandwich or mushroom and provolone omelette and a desert of pancakes or french toast. AR$70 including coffee, orange juice, a drink and bread!
