The Beatles Experience in Bogota

The Beatles Experience in Bogota

Before his first concert in Colombia this past spring, Paul McCartney told local press that playing a show in Bogota would have been unthinkable when the Beatles formed. Moore than 50 years later, the city is embracing Beatlemania. Ticket sales for Sir Paul’s concert broke all Colombian records when they opened on March 27 and the city is hosting two big Beatles exhibitions running now through October 16 at Bogota’s Seminario Mayor de Usaquén Valmaria.

Tagged as the biggest Beatles-focused exhibition in the world, The Beatles Experience pays homage to the legendary band with photos, drawings, murals, interviews and articles about the legendary pop band including 34 photographs exclusive to the event and the biggest collection of Beatles paraphernalia.

The first exhibit, “The Beatles! Backstage and Behind the Scenes,” features 84 black-and-white photos from the time of the band’s inaugural visit to the United States to promote their 1963 hit single “I Want To Hold Your Hand.”

The second exhibit, “Give Peace a Chance, John Lennon & Yoko Ono’s Bed-in for Peace,” fully recreates suite 1742 of the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal, where in 1969 newlyweds John and Yoko spent six days in bed peacefully protesting the Vietnam War.

In addition to the main exhibits, the show’s curators have organized a series of Beatles documentary viewings, lectures, and performances by a tribute band. Attendees are also encouraged to interact with the exhibitions by hanging their own wishes for peace from the branches of the museum’s peace tree, showing off their musical skills with a game of Rock Band and taking photos. Want to take a piece of the band home with you? The exhibition sells a variety of Beatles merchandise.
