Say Hello to the São Paulo Bienal!

This weekend the Fundação Bienal de São Paulo opened the 29th edition of the São Paulo Bienal in where else, but São Paulo, Brazil.  This years Bienal is rooted in the idea that it is impossible to separate art from politics.  Some 159 talented artists from 39 countries are exhibiting their artworks at the biennial, which carries the theme “There is always a cup of sea to sail in a line”, a quote borrowed from the Brazilian poet Jorge de Lima’s major work Invenção de Orfeu (1952).  Check back this week as we will continue to cover the Bienal including its history and notable featured artists.
