
Red Hot Organization is a non-profit organization that strives to raise money for AIDS through the medium of pop culture. Their claim to fame is their compilation CD’s and media events that have so far helped to raise 10 million dollars for promoting awareness of HIV/AIDS all around the world.
Red Hot + Rio 2, their latest compilation, comes out today, 15 years after the highly acclaimed first edition of Red Hot + Rio album and features the sort of music you would expect to hear while on vacation in Rio de Janeiro. Its focus is the Tropicalismo movement, which took place in the late 1960’s in Brazil, affecting poetry, art, literature and most importantly music. John Legend, Aloe Blacc and Jose Gonzales, are just some of the artists featured on the CD who pay tribute to Tropicalia music with a modern twist. Listen to “Tropicália (Mario C 2011 Remix)” below.
