Photos Argentina – Mariela Sancari

We’re always on the hunt for new South American artistic talent and think Mariela Sancari might just be the next big thing. Born in Argentina, she is well know in her homeland, but since living in Mexico City her work has become internationally recognised. She has had exhibitions not only in Buenos Aires and Mexico Ciy, but also New York and Barcelona. This year she has been selected to participate in Seminario de Fotografia Contemporanea at Centro de la Imagen from July to December 2011 in Mexico

What we like about her is the wide variety of subjects that her work covers- Fashion, Food and Travel- and the insights to the area she provides which surround your Buenos Aires short term rental.

Many of her photographs are focused around the concept of identity – who we are, where did we come from and what will we become? And how identities are affected and impacted by our daily lives.  Her newest project, “Home”, is exactly this. She returned to her birthplace in Argentina having been in Mexico for many years and suddenly saw everything in a new light, capturing how the people of her small town perceive themselves and also how they are represented by society.
