I admit it. I am an avid coffee drinker. I love the taste, the smell, the caffeine… everything. The fact that I am an American pretty much guarantees that I am also a Starbucks fan. Who doesn’t love a Venti anything from Starbucks?! What’s funny is that I love Starbucks while in America… but when I travel, I love to sit in cafes that ooze culture and ambiance. Sometimes it is the café itself that makes that cup of coffee taste even better.
What do you look for in a café? Do you like one that is buzzing with people and music, or prefer one that is more quiet and low key? Do you like to sit inside in a cozy corner with a book, or prefer a seat outside for people watching? I like variety.
Recently I came across a top 10 list of the best cafes in Buenos Aires … most I have been to, and some are on my list to visit.
Café Tortoni sits atop the list (and every other list for that matter) as it is a must see on your Buenos Aires travel agenda. Another obvious one for the list is El Gato Negro. Click here to see the complete top ten list of historic cafes. It even includes some that you must visit while touring the rest of Argentina.
Besides being a coffee fanatic, I am also a Palermo snob! This means, most of my coffee drinking is centered in my favorite neighborhood of Palermo. I love that you can go anywhere and will always feel as though you selected the perfect café! One of my favorite for people watching is Malas Artes located at Plaza Serrano in the heart of Palermo Soho.
