On an (unusually) sunny evening last week in London, an international mix of people – including past Oasis Collections Guests, wonderful Members of The Clubhouse and Property Owners – gathered together for a night of celebrating Argentina and the country’s participation in the 2012 Olympics. Our very own Katharine Pottinger hosted the event, along with London-based public relations group Branding Latin America and the Argentina Tourist Board.

Set outdoors at London’s Gaucho Piccadilly location (25 Swallow Street, London W1B 4QR), guests happily snacked on traditional Argentine fare such as empanadas and steak while sipping on the Argentine beverage of choice: wine. The Gaucho restaurants, which are dedicated to creating a true Argentine experience through the country’s food, wine, culture and passion of the people, was the perfect setting for the evening. (Should you be in the UK or Middle East and need your Argentine fix, we recommend that you check out one of their many locations!)

Aside from watching the Olympic games, guests enjoyed a spectacular performance by Tango dancers and Argentine pianist Pablo Citarella, whose approach to Tango is playful and based on improvisation. (Tango dancing as an Olympic sport in Rio anyone?)
The evening ended with guests glued to the TVs watching the exciting 1,2,3 win for Jamaica in the 200m (Argentina, by the way, finished the game with four medals including a gold won by Sebastián Crismanich in Taekwondo). Unfortunately the match up of Argentina’s basketball team with the USA team wasn’t as exciting as we predicted here.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Rodolfo Milesi of Branding Latin America and his team as well as the great teams at Gaucho and the Argentine Tourist Board.
