Good Internet In Buenos Aires

Good Internet In Buenos Aires

There’s not much you can’t do in Buenos Aires. Want to go out and dance until 9 am? Take your pick of clubs. Interested in eating intestines while a couple tangos a few feet away? Head over to La Boca. Want to see a mechanical Jesus rise from the dead every twenty minutes? Just go to the world’s first religious theme park, Tierra Santa. Maybe you just want to relax at home and watch a few YouTube videos? Not a chance. When it comes to good internet in Buenos Aires, things may seem a bit slower than you’re used to.

If I’m interested in checking out a website, I’ll type in the address, press enter, make coffee, hang out for a little while, maybe clean, start some laundry, then return to my computer to indulge in the recently loaded webpage. Downloading a movie on iTunes is an event that requires several days of preparation, and a near inhuman amount of patience.

Although I may be exaggerating slightly, slow internet does seem to be a pretty common theme on this continent. According to this report from Google, out of the 10 countries with the slowest load times, 6 of them were from South America. Argentina came in at only the 5th-slowest, so I suppose things could always be worse. Interestingly enough, The United States wasn’t on the list of the top 10 fastest load times.

Luckily, Oasis Guests will never have to experience the Internet speeds reminiscent of the early 1990’s AOL era. All Guests have access to a 3G USB key, an amazing tool that utilizes cell service to ensure that you’re never out of touch, and slow internet speeds remain where they belong: in the past.
