What is art? We here at Oasis are not entirely sure, but we do know that it can transcend mediums and is entirely subjective. So why not use houses as your canvas? This is what two imaginative guys from the Netherlands did while on a productive vacation. It all started when they made a documentary on hip hop in Rio and got the idea to paint a whole favela in bright happy colors.

With help from locals, they turned the entrance of Santa Marta into a colorful scenery. The houses around the square, parts of the street, and the local samba school all got painted. Perhaps Oasis should rent these properties out short term? The two artists have already begun to think about their next project which is to paint an entire hillside favela. Let’s hope they make it. In the meantime check out how Santa Marta turned out.
