Bittersweet Victory: Fernet Branca Gains Popularity Stateside

NYT’s foodcentric blog, Grubstreet poses the question today, “What’s with all the Fernet Branca.” Apparently US sales have tripled over the past few years as hip bartenders look to impress their patrons with unknown spirits. The big question here is whether Branca is here to stay or simply a fad for foodie thrillseekers. What Grubstreet fails to realize, however, is that US sales are irrelevant as sales in Argentina will keep the company in the green on its own.  If you’re hesitant to read the full article, do be aware that there are even some words from the brand’s owner, Count Branca himself.
